Local MP Alan Mak has attended an event in Parliament to recognise the hard work of apprentices in the aerospace industry, and thanked local apprentices at defence contractor Lockheed Martin for their contribution locally.
The Havant MP met with apprentices Jack Mitchell and Henry Parnell along with CEO of Lockheed Martin UK Paul Livingston. Jack and Henry both work at Lockheed’s Havant facility, which Mr Mak visited earlier this year to officially re-open following a renovation.
The event was organised by ADS, the trade association for the aerospace, defence, security and space industries representing more than 1,200 members from across the UK.
Local MP Alan Mak said: “Apprentices play an important role in the success of any business and offer a great opportunity for young people to learn more about an industry before committing to a full time role while earning. I was delighted to meet Jack and Henry, who work at Lockheed Martin’s site at Langstone Park in Havant, who told me more about the insights they are gaining from their apprenticeships.”
