Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed students from Purbrook Park School to his 7th annual Havant Constituency Jobs, Apprenticeships and Careers Fair at Havant Leisure Centre.
Students in Year 10 and 11 from the local secondary school were invited to attend the Fair to see the range of post-16 career opportunities available locally in the Havant Constituency.
They enjoyed a warm reception from employers, gained a better understanding of the jobs market, and had the opportunity to learn more about the skills needed to be successful in the workplace.
The students were also given the chance to ask Mr Mak questions about his role as a Member of Parliament, quizzing him on topics including the Conservative Leadership Contest, his time as a Minister, plus a range of local issues.
The Havant MP has held the Fair for annually for the last 7 years, starting them after he was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015.
This year the Fair was well attended by over 30 exhibitors from a range of industries and sectors.
Harry Bailey, a student at Purbrook Park School who attended the Fair, said: “I had a really good time coming to Alan’s Fair. There were lots of career options available and I found it very beneficial to my future after school.”
Local MP Alan Mak said: “I’m delighted students from Purbrook Park attended my Jobs Fair. These students will be the workforce of tomorrow, and it’s important that they can make informed choices by meeting a range of local employers to obtain careers advice and work experience.”
