Local MP Alan Mak has signed the Parliamentary Book of Solidarity in the House of Commons to express the solidarity of all Havant Constituency residents who are appalled at the invasion of Ukraine.
The Book of Solidarity was placed in the main atrium of Portcullis House, which forms part of the Parliamentary Estate, on Tuesday morning. The Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsey Hoyle invited MPs to sign. Mr Mak’s message includes the following words: “The residents of the Havant Constituency and the UK stand in solidarity with our friends in Ukraine.”
Local MP Alan Mak said: “The whole world was horrified by President Putin ordering the invasion of Ukraine. I have recieved a lot of emails from residents on this issue and it is clear to me that Havant Constituency residents are appalled by the developing situation. I have signed the Book of Solidarity on their behalf to express our support for the people of Ukraine.”
The Book of Solidarity will be sent to the Speaker’s counterpart, Ruslan Stefanchuk, who is the chairman of Ukraine’s Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada.
