5th Annual Community Information Fair 2020

Across the Havant Constituency, we have a wide range of local charities, community groups, businesses and government bodies that exist to help or serve local residents. Following the extraordinary year we have experienced, I believe it is important to build on the success of this annual event to bring some of those organisations together virtually, so residents – and their families, carers, neighbours and friends – can see what’s on offer.

Below is text that has been obtained from each organisation. Alan does not necessarily endorse each organisation or their products/services.

In total there are 33 groups offering a wide range of subjects and activities. All of the groups have a social element where people can form new friendships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. A full list of the groups can be found on the website. As well as the interest groups, our members can attend a monthly meeting which usually includes a talk by a renowned speaker on a different subject. Upcoming talks include: The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Highways: Past, Present and Future; Forty years catching smugglers; Asteroids – A waste of Space? We also hold two parties each year: a Summer Tea Party and a Christmas Party. Obviously, due to the current pandemic situation, it is not possible for many of our groups to meet in person at the moment. However, we have embraced the use of technology to enable many of the groups to continue via a computer link (we use the Zoom program). The annual membership fee which includes all of the above is only £12. (£15 last year).

We have a wide range of different services including traditional and contemporary Communion, Breakfast Church with coffee and bacon rolls and Prayer Book Matins at Warblington. Each week we have a recorded service that can be accessed through our website and Facebook page. We also have a large number of home study groups where you can get to know others well in a less formal setting and study the bible together and see what it is saying to us today. Our prayer is that in joining our church community you may grow closer to God, find friendship and healing, and be strengthened to serve God in the world. Most of all we hope you will come along and find out in person what it means to be part of an “Ordinary People with an Extraordinary God”. We seek to be a community of people who, inspired by God, help to serve our local community and express the love that God has for all people. We aim to be a community that is welcoming, loving and faithful to God, which is all the more important in our current circumstances.
