Alan Mak MP has congratulated Hayling Island’s popular Tibble’s Florist as the historic flower shop notches up 80 years in business this year. Mr Mak praised the family-run business for their ‘excellent reputation’ and ‘outstanding service’ over eight decades.
Tibble’s Florist is a family-run business based on Hayling Island since the 1930's. Until 2000 the shop was owned by Peter Tibble, before being taken over by his daughter Debbie, who is a qualified florist with 31 years of experience. Keeping up the family tradition Katie, Debbie's daughter, joined the family business in 2006 to train and work alongside her mother.
Mr Mak met Debbie and Katie, who gave the Havant MP a tour of the premises on Elm Grove, which caters for a range of birthdays, summer shows, funerals and weddings. Their distinctive van also delivers the hand-made arrangements to customers across Hayling, Havant, Emsworth and Waterlooville.
Following the visit, Alan Mak said: “Congratulations to Tibbles Florist who celebrate their 80th birthday this year. I was delighted to join Debbie and the team to mark the occasion. Debbie, who took over the shop from her father, maintains the excellent quality and brilliant family values that have kept Hayling in bloom since the 1930s.”
Debbie Lawley, owner of the florists, said: “Thanks to our local MP Alan Mak for showing his support as we celebrate our 80th birthday. We’re delighted to have the support of Hayling residents, who have ensured that our family business can continue thriving into its ninth decade!”
Mr Mak has proved a strong supporter of small business independent business across Havant since his election in May 2015. In April 2016, Mak hosted the inaugural Havant Small Business Awards to celebrate and showcase the best of local innovation and enterprise.
