- Strengthening Leigh Park’s local economy, including backing the regeneration of Park Parade and the Greywell Centre.
- Support local schools like Park Community, Havant Academy and Front Lawn to give every young person from Leigh Park the best start in life and the skills to succeed in today’s competitive, global economy.
- Supporting high-quality local infrastructure and public services, and good roads and pavements.
- Encourage vibrant community life, supporting our many community groups such as Off the Record, Big World Impact and CopsNCoffee
- Preserving Leigh Park as a great place to live and work
Alan’s activity across Leigh Park
Alan has worked hard to understand local issues and meet local residents, businesses, schools and community groups.
A small snapshot of Alan’s work and activity across Leigh Park includes:
- Visiting local businesses in Park Parade and the Greywell Centre.
- Visiting Off the Record, Big World Impact, Family Church on Botley Drive, and Leigh Park Community Centre
- Meeting with local Leigh Park councillors Mike Fairhurst, Yvonne Weeks and Lance Quantrill to discuss local issues.
- Visiting Park Community, Havant Academy and Front Lawn Primary Academy to discuss education issues with staff, the head teacher and students.
- Inviting BBC Radio 4 to broadcast from Leigh Park, with community leaders questioned on the technological changes that were highlighted in a recent report by Alan.
- Inspecting a multi-million pound development by clothing retailer FatFace at Dunsbury Park, which will help secure the town’s economic future.
- Becoming a member of the Leigh Park Working Men's Club on Dunsbury Way.
- Taking part in the Clean for the Queen campaign at Staunton Park, donning the plastic gloves along with scores of local residents.
- Organising the first ever Havant Oxbridge Conference at Park Community School, with pupils from five Havant schools receiving a university masterclass from outreach officers of Oxford and Cambridge universities.
- Giving Schools Minister Nick Gibb a tour of Havant Academy - one of England's most improved secondary schools over the last five years - and organised for the Minister to speak to local headteachers at the school.
- Taking part in parkrun, the popular weekly running event at Staunton Country Park.
- Handing out prizes to youngsters at the Big World Impact (BWI) summer sports day.
Active Communities Network, a youth and community development charity hosted the Big World Impact (BWI) Project Summer multi-sport event on Wednesday 17 August, with Havant MP Alan Mak on hand to give out prizes to some of the youngsters.
