Local MP Alan Mak has welcomed the King's Speech and the Government's new Parliamentary agenda for 2023/2024.
The King’s Speech marks the start of a new session of Parliament, and Mr Mak said it was an honour for him and his wife to be in Parliament’s Royal Gallery to see His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen arrive.
The King’s Speech sets out the Government’s plans for the coming year, and includes a range of new laws and measures that benefit residents across the Havant Constituency such as:
A big focus on bringing down inflation, easing the cost of living and helping businesses fund new jobs and investment.
Support for the NHS to cut waiting lists and plan for NHS workforce growth.
Helping the UK transition to net zero by 2050 with our own oil & gas as part of the mix, rather than unreliable, higher carbon imports – plus more investment in renewable energy.
New laws to tackle anti-social behaviour and terrorism, and tougher sentencing for the most serious offenders.
Upholding animal welfare by banning live animal exports.
Securing the benefits of Brexit by joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) – one of the world’s biggest free trade areas which includes Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand.
