Local MP Alan Mak launched a new partnership between FatFace Foundation and Magic Breakfast at Havant Academy that will be funding 100,000 breakfasts this year for schoolchildren at risk of hunger.
Alan is the former President and Trustee of the school charity Magic Breakfast, making the connection between them and the clothing company, which is based in Havant.
Magic Breakfast provides nutritious breakfasts and expert support to schools where children arrive too hungry to learn, unable to concentrate in their morning lessons. A healthy school breakfast is a simple solution that has been proven to make a huge difference in terms of improved attainment, behaviour, attendance, healthy eating habits and wellbeing.
Alan said; “As a longstanding campaigner for young people and Magic Breakfast’s former President, I’m delighted they are working with FatFace to launch new breakfast clubs in our constituency. Pupils who eat breakfast do better in the classroom, improving their exam results and employment prospects, and I was delighted to see Magic Breakfast in action at Havant Academy.”
The FatFace Foundation is also looking to explore other opportunities to engage with schools across the country. Their staff will be visiting their local Magic Breakfast clubs to see how their donation is having an impact. Plus, there will be ongoing fundraising initiatives in stores across the country.
FatFace CEO, Liz Evans, said; “We are delighted to be supporting Magic Breakfast to provide 100,000 breakfasts for children who may be starting their school day too hungry to learn. The FatFace Foundation was set up to make a positive and enduring difference to the lives of people in communities where FatFace sources, manufactures, retails and distributes its products across the UK. It is wonderful to be giving back to our local communities through this new partnership.”
Carmel McConnell MBE, founder of Magic Breakfast, said; “A healthy school breakfast is such a great investment in each child’s education success, so we are incredibly grateful for this generous support from the FatFace Foundation. I’ve always been a big fan of the FatFace brand and their values as a business, so sending huge personal thanks to them and to Alan Mak MP for making the connection. Thanks to everyone at Havant Academy today for launching a great new Havant levelling up initiative, that I’m sure we can grow!”
