Winter Fuel Help and Pension Credit

Many residents have contacted me about the Government’s recent decision to end the Winter Fuel Payment (WFP) as a universal benefit for pensioners, meaning that pensioners will only be eligible for WFP if they receive Pension Credit.

The Winter Fuel Payment is worth between £200-£300 per pensioner, and is paid out each year in the run-up to winter to help older people with heating costs.

In the Havant Constituency, latest figures indicate around 20,0000 local pensioners may lose the Winter Fuel Payment unless they make a successful claim for Pension Credit in time.

If you, a family member, friend or neighbour are affected, or could be, here are 2 ways I can help you:

1. Share your story with me

Please let me know how the removal of WFP could affect you or someone you know.
